I cannot get a proxy to work..?

I'm sitting here at the hospital and I cannot get a proxy to work. First off, domains labeled with proxies are blocked and it was hard enough finding a public proxy that would work. I need one that isn't littered with advertisements like icanhasproxy.com. Every 'game' website is blocked and I'd like to not be too bored anymore. I downloaded Foxy Proxy for firefox and I cannot get it to work, apparently. I've been using proxy lists, but everytime I use one, the connection just times out. Help please. :)
