I was showering with my macaw...?

I have a blue and gold macaw. I have got bit on the hand, lip, tongue, belly on, and all over before but it never really turned into something bad. I mean I got bit threw my lip and tongue at the same and I ended up going to the doctor but they just told me to let it heal on its own. I am sure it will be fine as long as it does not get infected.
