Lifting while pregnant?

i have recently found out im pregnant, im about 6-8 weeks, i work part time as a care istant and although we use hoists and other moving and handling aids there are times when moving a resident involves some lifting. iv told my boss my news but she as not yet spoke with me about what duties i shouild and should not be doing.i feel lifting the residents could do myself and the baby harm.i have heard from friend that i should be doin no lifting at all,is this true??
