Is it safer to peirce your Helix(top of ear) or your bellyon yourself?

I want a piercing but I'm scared to go to a piercing shop because I'll freak out or something. I want my helix or my bellyon done but my friend said she'll peirce one or the other, but I was wondering, which one would be safer? I went to a piercing shop and they were like, 'we don't use a needle for your cartilage we use a gun' but that can shatter your cartilage, and that's the only piercing shop near me that doesn't charge about �60 for a piercing, and I think that's a rip off. Which one would be safer for my friend to peirce? My helix of my belly on? She's done her own ears before and they've worked out fine, im just worried :/
