How to connect my pc and my xbox?

Hey i've been trying to connect my computer which is using windows xp, to my xbox through my SMC router using ethernet cables. My computer detects my xbox so i enabled media sharing on windows media player 11 but my xbox does not detect my computer. It might be the firewall ports so can anyone tell me how to open the firewall ports, UDP 1900, and TCP 2869. Thanks
